Day 6 , Calgary Day 2. 7.14.2017

Friday 7.14.2017 We could choose the departure time of today Stampede tour  bus. 8 am for 10 am We went the later bus it was still scheduled to arrive in time for the opening activities of the Stampede , however with traffic we missed it.  Still the Bucking Bulls & Horses , Steer wrestling/roping  , girls barrel riding & younger people Wild Pony Races.  Very great seats , shade shaded of the stadium, usual stadium seated but with backs ( just tight together). Home in time for dinner Mark grilled Hamburgers. Campground Bow Rivers Edge RV Park right by Bow River is located beautifully with a off leash walking doggy path so every morning Molly n I take coffee and walk from one park exit to next to see Rushing River and let her sniff.
Sunday 7.9.2017 I overslept , not out of bed 1045 and we needed to be to Best Western for noon orientation and light lunch. I promised Jane Id call her so it was a brief call. Alot of information at Orientation: I have pic of people It was 104 degrees this last day before we leave. again a pic Mark insisted on washing the truck, we went to get lemonade an last minute food at Smith's. Back home to walk Mollly and feed her.  So back at 5:50 for 6:00 PM dinner.  Chicken or Beef was the choice with mixed vegatable, roll water and coffee, the beef had mashed potatoes n gravy the chicken had a sweat white sauce with rice pilaf.  I have a pic of the Adventure Caravan cake , kick off.

Friday 7. 7.2017 Mark returned his new ipad while I had a leisure morning. Mark made calls to tire minder and Rand McNally.  We'd hoped to clean out the truck and camper today but its soo hot.  We set up the crock pot outside on the picnic table. I needed ingredients for roast so off to Smith's ( Kroger's) and got a vegetable tray for 5 PM chair n Beverage meeting tonight.  It was already hot so went to McDonald's for lunch ( I like my app. for discounts) . I wanted to get some more summer shorts for this hot trip ( forecast in Calvary Stampede is close to 90*), for which Old Navy is close by. Home to put items in crock n refrig. Mark concluded an upgrade for Rand McNally on our GPS then off to Old Navy.  I got some shorts and blouses. Mark got Canadian currency.  Our neighbor's Ann & Rick Trine ( friends of Jim n LInda Williams) went to do laundry this morning and when we returned their drinking water hose had ruptured I downloaded First Aid f...
Monday 6.26.2017 This is being reported as the worst draught in 30 years, with high temp. Up very early to get into town for dealership. Hopefully to check truck , at least an appointment.Worst case scenario we might have to juggle our Glacier National Park Plan.  The up early was a hitch for breakfast/ coffee as it was before the 8 am generator hours. I guess that is the downfall of no propane stove. Anyway it was a beautifully quiet , serene morning, no noise. The phones don't even charge, unplugged, here at Gros Ventre. I like it. Into Teton Chevrolet on a Monday morning the service advisor was very busy & not impressed w/our concern. He told Us if Onstar had no codes then they wouldn't have any either . Even after reading the email of the s Scary situation codes he felt it had overheated, stalled or flooded but that Mark used all the towing devices correctly. He was dismissing us . His final parting words to Mark were get rid of that DEF. So we went across the st...
Tuesday 7.4.2017 Today's my bother RW Lickfelt's 78th b-day I tried to phone him and left a message. Walked to office for coffee , pay so Mark could was the camper, and see what our new site number was. Mark walked Molly and in process met Ron Pollack our Tailgunner who wanted to do our truck and rig inspection. It was successful and we are officially number 7 of Adventure Caravan's Alaska/ Calgary 65 day tour. Mark ended up talking with Ron & Curt all morning so I used computer to catch up on my blog and call Linda Mitchell hoping with her church pic experience she could tutor me about inserting pics.  Mitchell's were on they way back from Pentwater as she had a Physical Therapy appointment  this week. She felt certain she could help but needed to get to her computer to  me through it.  She would call later. She too had tried RWL for birthday conversation. Mark came in just soaked from washing rig. He had some lunch and we moved sited to 69.  Lucky en...
Monday 7.3.2017 Mark had calls to make , bills to pay and packages to finish up both mailed back to Jim in MI.for us and grand children.   I text Jane thanking her for the Kate Morton book and asking after her. She reports crying all the time and living in fear to share her feelings with her children for fear they will discontinue communication entirely with her. I offer to place her a cell call and just listen but she declines. We are seeking a door knob for the camper bathroom door which is free turning so you need to take extra care before transit its locked so door doesnt swing.   I made Molly's PetSmart grooming appointment for 7.8.17 and we fortify her with Heart worm and Vector for ticks and fleas before our trip. Then off to Home Depot for door knob, Mark wants matching colors as he doen't want to change bedroom door also ( eye roll). No match off, to Walmart    & Ace Hardware all no match, we'll see. One of his earlier calls today was to repa...
Sunday   7.2.2017 It was a short barren uneventful warm ride from Conrad, MT. to Dick's RV Park 1403  11th Street SW  Great Falls, MT. 59404. I previous read this is a family owned park and the host was very humorous when we arrived. His saying was " My mistake , Your fault" i explained I was going to be plagiaring that line. We got settled into site number 9 backed up to the Hwy. knowing we would be moving to all be our Caravan group on Tuesday, still within the park but another site. Thankful for both air conditioning, I am. We went out to Pizza Hut for dinner.Which was right to a grocery store called Smiths , like Fry's in AZ. it's a Kroger so our rewards for fuel card worked. Our Wagonmaster Curt & Jenine Overby are already here and Tailgunner Ron & Judy Pollack who is a retired School bus mechanic from Ottawa, doing vehicle and rig inspections, is due to arrive tomorrow.
